About this course
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology (IT) provides students with useful foundations for a successful career in computing technology. Equivalent to three A-levels, this course has been developed as a gateway to the IT sector. Students gain an understanding of computer software, web development, server, cloud, database, maintenance and networking.
Outcomes
- Equip students with knowledge, understanding and skills for success in employment in various fields of Information Technology (IT).
- Provide opportunities for students to enter, or progress in, employment in the IT sector or progress to higher education qualifications with over 200+ universities globally.
- Develop the student’s ability in the computing industry through effective practical and technical training, developing fundamental understanding of the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the programme.
- Develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for enabling students to make an immediate contribution to employment
Entry requirements
- Minimum three Ds in IGCSEs
- Completion of high school grade 10 or equivalent in any curriculum with a minimum score of 50
- BTEC Level 2 in a related field with a minimum pass profile
- Other related BTEC Level 2 qualifications
- Work experience with two references
- Additional English language qualifications/tests may be required if language of schooling was not English
